Anxiety and worry
When worry takes up more of the day than it should, or panic comes out of nowhere.
What it can feel like
- Worrying thoughts that go round and round, especially at night
- A racing heart, tight chest or shaky hands
- Avoiding places, calls or people because of how they make you feel
- Feeling on edge or tired from being on edge
Everyone is different; you do not need to recognise all of these.
How therapy can help
Most therapy for anxiety starts by noticing the pattern: what sets the worry off, what you do next, and what keeps it going. Then you try small changes, between sessions, at your own pace. Cognitive behavioural therapy and ACT are the methods we use most.
