Arriving

We say hello, sit down and go through privacy: what stays in the room and the rare times it cannot.

You talk about what is going on, in your own order. The therapist listens and asks a few questions.

30–42 min

What you would like to change

Together you put into words what would be different if therapy helped.

42–50 min

Questions and next steps

Your questions, the fees, and whether to meet again. There is no pressure to decide on the day.

Notes and changeover

The therapist writes notes. Appointments are spaced so you never wait with the next person.

What people come to talk about

You do not need a diagnosis or the right words. Most people start with a feeling that something has to change.

If you are not sure whether what you are going through is a reason for therapy, it is a good question for the free call.

The therapists

Four people with different ways of working. On the free call we suggest who might suit you; you can always ask for someone else.

Dr Maya Okonkwo

Clinical psychologist (sample)

Anxiety, panic and worry; adult ADHD assessments. Works with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Mon, Tue, Thu

Questions people ask before they start

Yes, with a few limits the law sets: if you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or a court orders records. Your therapist explains these in the first five minutes, and you can ask about them at any time.

It depends on what you come with. Some people come for six to eight sessions about one thing; others stay longer. You review it with your therapist every few sessions and decide together.

No. If medication might help, we can talk it through and write to your doctor or a psychiatrist, with your permission.

Say so, or tell the practice manager. It is common, it is not rude, and we can suggest a colleague or another practice.

We see adults aged 18 and over. On the free call we can suggest services for younger people in Springfield (sample).
