Grief does not follow stages

You may have heard that grief comes in five stages. Most people find it does not: it comes in waves, out of order, sometimes years later (sample note).
What tends to help is having somewhere for it to go: a person to talk to, a routine that includes remembering, permission to have good days without guilt.
If grief is making ordinary life very hard for a long time, therapy can help. Our groups on living with loss meet on Thursday evenings (sample).
