Visiting someone on a ward: what helps

Visits matter to people on the wards, and short, regular visits are often better than one long one. Most wards are open to visitors from 14:00 to 20:00, with a quiet hour after lunch.
Clean your hands with the gel at the ward door when you arrive and leave. If you have had a cold, sickness or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours, please wait until you are well.
If you are not sure what to bring, ask the nurse in charge. A long phone cable, a book and a familiar dressing gown usually help more than flowers, which we cannot have on the wards.
