Why your logo needs a small version

Most logos are drawn large and then shrunk. At 16 pixels, the size of a browser tab, every fine line and small gap turns into grey (sample note).
A small version keeps the shape people recognise and drops the details: fewer lines, larger gaps, sometimes a heavier weight. It takes over below about 48 pixels, on app icons, social avatars and favicons.
If your current logo blurs in the tab, you probably do not need a new identity. A redrawn small version is often enough.
