A savings club that became a bank
In 1921 the workers at the wool mill put a few cents a week into a savings club kept in a ledger at the mill gate (sample). The club became a bank, and the ledger became the passbook our customers still carry.
- Owned by people and firms in the county (sample)
- Three branches, one lending desk, no call centre
- Decisions on loans made in Springfield
