Why the orchard has so many kinds of apple

When Rachel’s grandfather planted the orchard he chose apples that ripen one after another, so there was always something to sell (sample).
The early ones do not keep, so eat them within a week. The late ones, like Bramley and Russet, last until spring in a cool shed.
On Apple Day you can taste every one of them and tell us which to plant more of.
