A hill that grows one crop
Ellen and Sam Hollis (sample) planted the first 500 Nordmann seedlings on a cow pasture in 1979. The cows went, the trees stayed, and every year since then the family has planted one tree for every tree that leaves the hill.
Today the farm has around 30,000 trees at every age, from seedlings the size of a pencil to the tall Fraser firs on the top row that are ready this year.
