Tummy tuck and liposuction
Body contouring: loose skin removed and muscles tightened, or fat taken out through small ports.
Body scars to scale
From the smallest scar on the ruler to the longest: a liposuction port and a tummy tuck.
Typical scar length, drawn to scale (sample)
Centimetres, 0 to 35. Your surgeon draws your own plan.
Liposuction

Tummy tuck
25 to 35 cm, and round the navel, low across the abdomen, under the underwear line

Violet dashed line: the typical scar, to scale
Pale violet: how much longer it can be
Green underline: it sits in a natural crease, fold or hairline
Two different operations
A tummy tuck removes skin; liposuction does not. Many people need one, not both.
Loose skin and fat removed from the lower abdomen and the muscles tightened, often after pregnancy or weight loss.
Low across the abdomen, and round the navel
Fat that does not shift with diet and exercise removed through a thin tube. Not a way to lose weight.
Small ports in skin creases
