Eyelid surgery
Extra skin and fat taken from the upper or lower lids, usually under local anaesthetic. Home the same day.
On the day
About 60 to 90 minutes for both upper lids.
Marking
The surgeon marks the crease and the skin to remove while you sit up, eyes open and closed.
Numbing
A local anaesthetic in the lids; you can have a sedative to relax.
The operation
Skin, and sometimes a little fat, removed along the marks; the cut closed with fine stitches.
Home
Cold packs and eye drops, and someone to drive you.
