Last on, first off: keeping pearls bright

Pearls are made of the same material as the inside of a shell, and they are softer than any gemstone (sample note).

Put them on after perfume and hairspray, take them off before anything else, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth.

Store them flat in a pouch, never on a hook, and bring a strand you wear often for restringing every few years.
