The ten-second pause
Before a first send to a new address, ten seconds and three questions.
Ten seconds, three questions
The pause appears before a first send to any new address. It is not a captcha: it is the moment a scammer hopes you skip.
- Did this address reach you in a message or a call you did not start?
- Is someone telling you it has to be now?
- Have you checked it with the person on a number you already have?
If the answer to either of the first two is yes, stop and write to support before you send.
Why the app makes you wait
Almost every scam we hear about has one thing in common: a deadline. Ten seconds is short for you and long for a script that depends on hurry.
You can make a contact trusted after the first send, and the pause will not appear for them again.
Check before you send
Fourfold Wallet (sample) is free on iPhone and Android. It holds your keys on your phone and runs the four checks before every send.
