Mae Okafor takes the senior 60kg title

Mae Okafor (sample) of Grandstand Road ABC won the senior 60kg final on a split decision on Saturday night.

She was cut above the eye in the second round. Her coach, Lee Barton (sample), closed it in the minute’s rest and told her to stay long. She did, and took the third round on four of five cards.

Okafor is the club’s first senior champion in nine years. She boxes again at the club show on 7 November.
