I started as an assistant to an architectural photographer and learnt to wait for the light (sample). Since then I have photographed rooms, the people who use them and the things they make.
Most of my clients need the same picture in several places: a page, a website, a phone. So I think about the crops before I press the shutter, and I show you them on the day.
Three habits that make a shoot day easier for everyone.
We agree the shapes before the shoot. Each picture is framed with room to crop, so nothing important ends up on the edge.
Rooms and faces look like themselves in window light. I add flash only to balance it, never to replace it.
Dust, cables and stray reflections go. Walls, skin and objects keep their real colour and texture.
Small enough to carry up four floors, enough to light a room or a face.
