Plan your vote
Register, ask for a mail ballot or vote early: the dates that count (sample).
The dates that count
Four dates decide whether your vote counts. The ring marks the next deadline (sample dates for a 3 November election).
Check your registration with the county elections office. New residents and anyone who moved need to update their address.
Ask for a mail ballot
Any registered voter can ask for a mail ballot. Return it by post or to a drop box by 20:00 on election day.
Vote early
Early voting at the Civic Centre and the Elm Avenue library, 9:00 to 18:00 every day, including weekends.
Election day
Polls are open 7:00 to 20:00. If you are in line by 20:00, you can vote. Find your polling place on your voter card.
Dates and hours (sample). Your county elections office publishes the official dates.
At the polling place
What should I bring?
Your voter card if you have it. Check your county’s rules on ID before you go (sample).
I made a mistake on my ballot.
Do not cross it out. Ask a poll worker for a new ballot; you can ask up to two times (sample rule).
Can someone help me vote?
Yes. You can bring a person of your choice, or ask two poll workers to help, and accessible voting machines are at every site.
Can I get a ride?
Yes. Campaign volunteers give rides on early voting days and election day. Call the office the day before (sample).
