Election day: Tuesday 3 November. Polls open 7:00 to 20:00 (sample)

Issues

Every question residents raised at the door, with Maren’s yes or no and the reason. Each plan links to the details.

Yes

No

Should every elementary school in Ward 4 have a staffed crossing at opening and closing time?

Maren’s answer: yes. Four schools share two crossing guards today (sample). She would fund two more posts from the ward’s road-safety budget.

Yes

No

Should the city repair sidewalks from a public list, worst first, instead of in the order complaints arrive?

Maren’s answer: yes. A published list lets every street see where it stands and stops the loudest block from jumping the queue.

Yes

No

Should the Elm Avenue branch library open on Sundays?

Maren’s answer: yes, from noon to 17:00, by moving two weekday morning hours that have the fewest visitors (sample figures).

Yes

No

Should the Market Street parking lot start charging on Sundays?

Maren’s answer: no. Sunday is the busiest day for the shops around it, and the lot brings in little on that day (sample figures).

Yes

No

Should every bus stop on Line 7 get a shelter and a bench within four years?

Maren’s answer: yes. Eleven of the nineteen stops in the ward have neither (sample). She would start with the stops nearest the clinic and the senior centre.

Questions and figures (sample).

The plans, area by area

Each plan says what would change, what it costs and how residents can check progress.

Safer streets

Staffed school crossings, a public sidewalk repair list and shelters at every bus stop on Line 7.

Libraries and parks

Sunday hours at the Elm Avenue branch, park toilets open all year and a tree for every bare verge.

Open council

A monthly ward meeting, the agenda in plain language a week ahead, and every vote explained online.

Questions about the plans

From the ward’s share of the road-safety and maintenance budgets, which are set every spring. No plan here needs a new tax (sample).

No. Council decides by majority. A ward member can propose, ask questions in public and report back, and that is what Maren commits to.

Because that is how a ballot asks. Each answer comes with the reason, so you can disagree with the reason, not only the answer.

City budget papers and the library and sidewalk surveys. Every figure on this demo site is marked as a sample.

Ask about your street

Tell us the problem and the address. It goes on the list Maren brings to council (sample).
