How to read the pay line on a job ad

Every ad on the board shows the pay, but not always in the same way (sample).
An hourly rate is what you earn for each hour worked, before tax. A yearly figure is for a full-time week; “pro rata” means you get the share for the hours you do, so a $31,000 job at three days a week pays about $18,600.
If an ad gives a range, the bottom of it is usually where new starters begin. Ask what moves you up the range: it is a fair question, and the job desk can help you word it.
