Questions about part-time work
Can I work around school hours?
Look for ads that give hours inside 9:30 to 14:30, or term-time jobs. Ask about a job and say which hours you can do; many small employers can move a shift.
Will a part-time job affect my benefits?
It can. The job desk volunteers can help you check before you accept an offer, or point you to free advice.
Do weekend jobs pay more?
Some do. If the ad does not say, ask: it is a normal question and employers expect it.
Seen a job you could do?
Send us the reference from the tab and a few lines about yourself. We pass it to the employer the same day, and you hear back within three working days (sample).
