Claims
Something has gone wrong. Call your adviser or the claims line first: we tell you what to do next and follow the claim up with the insurer.
The first hour
Make people and property safe, then call us. Do not throw away anything damaged until the insurer has seen it or agreed.

What to have ready
You do not need everything at once. These make the first call shorter.
For any claim
- Your name and the policy you hold
- When and where it happened
- Photos of the damage, before any repair
Theft or damage by others
- The police reference number
- Receipts or photos of stolen items
- Names of anyone else involved
Car claims
- The other driver's details
- Where the car is now
- A sketch or photos of the scene
After you call
What happens next, in the usual order. Every insurer works a little differently; your adviser tells you which steps apply.
1
We register the claim
With the insurer, the same day, and send you the reference.
2
The insurer assesses it
By phone, photos or a visit from a loss adjuster.
3
Repair or settlement
The insurer decides; we check the offer against your policy with you.
