FAQs
How a broker is paid, and questions about home, car, travel, life and business cover.
Questions we are asked
Grouped by kind of cover. If yours is not here, call the office.
Working with a broker
Does a broker cost more than buying direct?
Usually not. We are paid a commission by the insurer, which is built into the price; we tell you the amount before you buy. Some policies carry a small arrangement fee, and we say so first.
Which insurers do you work with?
A panel of about twelve insurers (sample). We tell you which ones we asked for your quote and why we recommend one.
Home and car
Is my bike or laptop covered away from home?
Only if your contents policy includes personal possessions cover. We check the single-item limit with you.
Can I add a young driver to my car policy?
Yes, as a named driver. It changes the price, so we compare a few insurers for that combination.
Travel, life and business
I have a medical condition. Can I get travel cover?
Often yes, but it must be declared. We help you answer the medical questions and find insurers who cover it.
Do I need business insurance if I work from home?
Your home policy may not cover business equipment or visitors. Tell us what you do and we check both policies.
