How the elk draw works, and how to apply before April 7

Most elk licenses in our units are given out by a draw each spring (sample). You apply for a hunt code, which names the unit, the weapon and the dates.

If you are not drawn, you get a preference point, and points improve your chances next year. Apply even if you cannot hunt this season, to build points.

Send us your application number and we will check the hunt code before the draw closes on April 7.
