Dressing the doorstep for Halloween

A lit doorstep tells trick-or-treaters which houses are taking part. You do not need much.

Put three pumpkins of different sizes on the steps, stretch a web across one corner of the door frame and run a string of battery lights along the railing. Paper honeycomb pumpkins fold flat afterwards for next year.

Keep the steps clear for small feet, and switch the lights off when the sweets run out.
