Razor care

Drying, stropping, honing and restoring: how to keep a razor for decades.

Keep a razor for life

A good razor outlives its owner if it is dried, stropped and honed now and then. This is how we look after ours.

Rinse and dry

Hot water after the shave, then shake and pat dry; never leave it in the wet basin.

Strop before each shave

Twenty laps on leather keep a straight razor’s edge aligned.

Hone once or twice a year

When stropping no longer brings the edge back, bring it to the bench.

Change blades often

A dull blade is the most common cause of irritation.

Bring it in, take it home ready

Most services take a few minutes at the counter. Honing and restoration take a few days; we call you when it is ready.
