Safety and permissions
Licences, insurance, airspace and privacy: what happens before a drone takes off on your site.
Flown to the rules, every time
Most people never see the paperwork behind a drone flight. Here is what happens before we take off on your site.
Pilot licences
Remote pilot certificates for all pilots (sample)
Every flight
Liability insurance
Public liability for every job (sample)
$5m
Airspace permission
Requested from air traffic control when the site needs it
Included
Wind limit
Above that, or in rain, we move the flight at no charge
38 km/h
Privacy
Neighbours are told, and footage of people is cut
Before we fly
Before every flight
The same checks in the same order, written down for every job (sample checklist).
Airspace
Check the maps and notices for airports, hospitals and temporary restrictions.
Weather
Wind, rain, cloud base and visibility, checked the evening before and on site.
Site walk
Take-off point, obstacles, power lines and where people might be.
Briefing
Pilot and observer agree the plan, the radio calls and where to land if needed.
Drone check
Batteries, propellers, compass and return-home height set above the tallest obstacle.
Tell us what you need to see from above
Send the address and what the photos, film or survey are for. A pilot checks the airspace and replies with a fixed price, usually within one working day (sample).
