Five signs your phone battery is worn out

Phone batteries wear out with charge cycles. After two or three years most have lost a fifth of their capacity (sample note).

The signs: the phone is flat by lunchtime, it shuts down with charge left, it gets warm while charging, it slows down in the cold, or the screen starts to lift at one edge. The last one is a swollen battery: stop charging it and bring it in the same day.

A battery replacement takes about 30 minutes at the counter. We check the battery health first and tell you the number.
