A school, not a sales desk
Ferrow Bitcoin School (sample) is a small non-profit that teaches bitcoin to adults in Springfield: in the library, online and at workplaces that ask.
Started at a library table
In 2019 two volunteers ran a one-off evening talk at the library because neighbours kept asking them the same questions. Forty people came. Today the school runs the twelve-lesson course every month and publishes short news every week (sample).
How we teach
Five rules for every lesson, class and news report.
How it works, not what to buy
We explain the technology, the risks and the rules. We never say whether, when or what to buy.
No money from the industry
No exchange, wallet maker or coin pays for lessons, articles or the room (sample).
Plain words first
Every term is explained the first time it appears, and the glossary keeps the rest.
Practise with things of no value
Workshops use test coins, so learning never puts anyone’s savings at risk.
Questions are welcome
Nobody is told a question is too basic. Most of the course was written from questions.
The people behind the school
Volunteer teachers and one part-time editor, all from Springfield (sample).
Mara Lindqvist
Course lead, parts 1 and 2 (sample)
Tomasz Wren
Workshop teacher (sample)
Grace Okafor
Part 3 and safety evenings (sample)
How we write the news
News reports what changed and what it means for people who use bitcoin. If a story only matters to traders, we leave it out.
Paid or sponsored articles
Within a day, at the end of the article
Disclosed by each writer (sample)
