First aid, fire, handling and hazards: every course at a glance, with the next open dates at the Wharf Road centre.
Read the sign, know the course
Courses are grouped the way safety signs are: by shape and colour. The same sign marks a course wherever it appears on this site.
Green square
Safe conditions: first aid, the defibrillator and mental health support.
Red square
Fire: equipment, alarms and the people who sweep the building.
Blue disc
Must do: the way a task has to be done, like lifting and carrying.
Yellow triangle
Hazards: substances and situations to recognise and stay clear of.
Courses and what they cover
Every course is taught by doing: most of the day is spent on the floor with manikins, bandages or extinguishers, not in front of slides. The sign shows which family a course belongs to.
It depends on the work you do, the size of your site and how many people are there at once, so start from your own first-aid needs assessment. We are happy to talk it through before you book; the decision stays with you.
A certificate of attendance with the course name, the date and the hours. First-aid courses also record the practical assessment. Check with your regulator or insurer which courses they accept for your workplace.
Many workplaces renew first-aid training every three years and add a short practice session in between. We keep a record of who trained when and email you before a certificate reaches its date (sample).
