Commissions
A painting made for one wall: your size, a subject from the coast or the house, and three colour studies to choose from first.

How a commission works
From the first conversation to the painting on your wall in four steps.
1
Talk about the wall
Send a photo of the room, or Iris visits if you live within an hour of Springfield (sample). You agree a size and a subject.
2
Three colour studies
Small oil studies on board show three ways the painting could go. You choose one and keep it.
3
The painting
Painted in the studio over six to twelve weeks. You get photos at the halfway point.
4
Delivery and hanging
Delivered by hand within 50 miles and hung on your wall, or crated and shipped.
Questions about commissions
How much is the deposit?
A third of the price when you choose a colour study, the rest when the painting is finished and you have seen it (example terms).
What if I do not like the finished painting?
You see the painting at the halfway point and can ask for changes then. If it is still not right at the end, you keep the colour study and the deposit pays for it.
Can you paint my house or a particular place?
Yes, if it is a place Iris can visit and paint outdoors first. Portraits of people and pets are not taken on.
Do you frame the paintings?
Frames in oak or ash are made by a local framer, from $180 for a study (example prices). Unframed paintings have painted edges and are ready to hang.
