Larkfield Vets (sample) has looked after dogs, cats and rabbits in Springfield since 2009, with the same small team at the consulting table.
The clinic opened in a former bakery with one consulting room (sample). Today it has three, an operating theatre, digital X-ray and a small lab, and still no head office.
That means the vet you see makes the decisions with you. We explain what we find, what the choices are and what each one costs, and you decide.
A vet visit is strange for an animal. A few small habits make it easier.
They wait away from dogs, with shelves for the carrier and a towel over the door.
Ask for the first or last slot of the day, when the waiting room is empty.
Many dogs are easier to check on the floor than on the table, so we start there.
We ask about allergies and diets first; you can bring your pet’s own treats.
Two vets, a nurse and a receptionist (sample). Ask for the same vet each time if you like.
Veterinary surgeon, clinic lead (sample)
Dogs, soft-tissue surgery and the first-year visits of most of our puppies.
Veterinary surgeon (sample)
Cats and rabbits, dentistry, and the quiet Thursday cat clinic.
Veterinary nurse (sample)
Nurse clinics: weight, nails, microchips and checks after an operation.
Reception and health plans (sample)
Appointments, plan sign-ups and repeat prescriptions.
Everything most pets need is in one building, so tests and treatment happen without a second trip (sample).
