Autumn walks: conkers, acorns and mushrooms

Autumn walks bring things dogs like to chew: conkers, acorns, fallen fruit and mushrooms (sample note).
Some of them can upset the stomach or block the gut, and a few mushrooms are poisonous. Keep a dog that picks things up on a lead in woods and parks, and swap the find for a treat.
If your dog has eaten something and is sick, very quiet or has a sore belly, call us. At night, call the out-of-hours number. A photo of what was eaten helps the vet.
