Your first week abroad: a checklist

The first week sets up the rest of the year (sample checklist).

Day one: get to your room, message home, sleep. Days two and three: register at the university, collect your student card and, where the country needs it, your residence permit. Then a local SIM card and a bank account.

By the end of the week, register with a doctor and walk your route to lectures once before teaching starts.
