Jobs and training
Paid traineeships for people coming back to work, volunteer shifts for everyone else, and accounts for businesses that want to help by buying.
How a traineeship works
Twelve weeks, paid from the first day, in the canteen, the bike workshop or the print room. Twelve places a year, four at a time (sample).
Start on the floor
Shadow a supervisor in one venture and get your food hygiene or workshop safety certificate.
Your own shifts
Run a till, a repair stand or a print job, 24 hours a week, with a supervisor close by.
The next job
Mock interviews, a reference from us and introductions to local employers who are hiring.
Pay and hours
Real living wage for Springfield (sample).
Who can apply
We have room for people on probation, care leavers, carers returning to work and anyone recovering from illness.
Volunteer at the yard
Volunteers never replace paid jobs. They help with the extra things that make the yard a good place to be.
Fix-it helper
Help neighbours fix their own bikes at the Saturday sessions.
Members' meeting host
Welcome members, take notes and count the votes.
Reading buddy
Help a trainee with forms, tickets and the hygiene course.
Board member
Stand at the annual meeting and help run the company.
Start with a cup of tea
Come to the canteen any weekday at 10:00 and ask for Sam. No forms on the first visit.
