What I check on a dock at six in the morning

I walk the dock before I open my laptop. It takes fifteen minutes and saves an hour of meetings (sample note).

First the doors: which ones are blocked, and why. Then the marshalling lanes, the chilled bay temperature log, the charging room and the first-aid box by goods in.

If two of the five are wrong, the night handover needs fixing, not the people on the morning shift.
