Guard numbers
What each clipper guard leaves, in millimetres, and how to ask for the cut you want.
Ask for it by number
The number on a clipper guard is the length it leaves. Tell us yours and you get the same cut whoever is on the chair.
Lengths for standard snap-on guards. No. 0 means no guard, with the lever open. Half sizes sit between 0 and 3.
Most asked for at Corbett Street: a 2 on the sides and a 4 on top (sample).
Saying it at the chair
“A 2 back and sides, scissors on top”
Classic short back and sides
Skin at the nape, one guard all over the top
A buzz cut that still shows the hair colour
“Just a tidy, leave the length”
Walk in, or book a chair
Tuesday to Saturday. Walk-ins until an hour before closing; a booked chair is held for ten minutes.
