Tyres and wheels
Tread, cuts and bulges: a tyre fail is a fail on the spot.
Check it yourself
Five minutes on the drive the week before the test.
- Tread depth: at least 1.6 mm across the middle three quarters
- Look for cuts and bulges on the sidewalls
- Check the pressures when the tyres are cold
- Find the locking wheel nut key
What the tester checks
- Tread depth with a gauge on every tyre
- Size and type match on each axle
- Cuts, bulges and exposed cords
- Wheel nuts all present and tight
