How we resize a ring without losing the hallmark

Most rings can go up or down two sizes in a couple of days (sample note).

We cut the band at the back, away from the hallmark, then add a small piece of matching gold or take some out. The joint is soldered, filed round on a mandrel and polished until you cannot find it.

Rings with stones all round, or very thin bands, need a closer look first. We tell you before we start whether resizing is the right answer.
