Notebook

Why I still keep paper notes

An open notebook with a pen, a phone and a cup of tea on a table

Every interview starts in a paper notebook, even when I also record it (sample).

Paper is quicker to start, nobody worries about where it uploads, and notes that could identify a source never end up in a shared folder.

The notebooks go in a locked drawer once a story is published. I have kept every one since 2014.
